SRG - Plating Maintenance Project Engineer


A Day In The Life Typically Includes

The role of the Project/Maintenance Engineer is to manage equipment, safety, environmental improvements across plating department. The Project/Maintenance Create the value by designing and modifying system of procedures and regulation for maintenance team along with improving preventive and predictive maintenance.


  • Solving problem on a daily basis to improve quality and efficiency of equipment, process and products
  • Develop/modify work instruction for the maintenance team
  • Develop/modify safety requirements for performing maintenance tasks
  • Design, add and modify preventive and predictive maintenance using statistical analysis
  • Improve maintenance software to obtain data needed to analyze failures
  • Lead improvement projects across plating department
  • Develop project responsibilities, assigning vendors or people to each portion of the project; preparing cost estimates
  • Confirm performance by designing and conducting tests
  • Complete technical studies that involve but not limited to selecting right equipment (pumps, motor, gear boxes, etc) analyzing structures, weights, material used, etc.
  • Perform some structure, temperature and flow calculations
  • Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, schedule change
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules and regulations
  • Develop standards for current and future plating activities including but not limited to process improvement, process standardization, line design, and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate with process team to improve the process activities
  • Observe and comply with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations associated with this job.
  • Promote and maintain 5-S to ensure an organized, clean, and work safe area.

What You Will Need

To perform this job an individual has to be self-motivated, be able to work effectively without supervision, have excellent presentation and communication skills, be proficient with CAD, possibly simulation software, hands on job. To be successful at this position the project/maintenance engineer has to able to work productive in the fast peace environment, think outside the box, show results in timely manner.

Education and/or Experience:
BS Mechanical Engineering; at least two years of experience in a related position.

Be proficient or experienced with
: Design and visualization software such as AutoCad, SolidWorks or similar, project management and supervisor skills, technical understanding, MS Office software: Excel, MS Project, Word, Power Point, time management and organization skills, understanding statistical principles to determine MTBF, MTTF

Be familiar with:
maintenance software (such as maintenance connection or similar)

  • Identify and record any problems in products, processes, and/or quality systems.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through established systems.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions to ensure successful resolutions.

Contain non-conformities and alter process until deficiency or unsatisfactory condition is corrected.

Physical demands:
The employee is frequently required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, reach with arms and hands, and talk and hear. The employee is sometimes required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and sit. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to lift up to 10 - 50 lbs. daily.

The employee will be exposed to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

The noise level is moderate.

The employee will need to wear all protective equipment relevant to working with hazardous chemicals.
